Big Thirsty Aussies

                                Well, despite a lot of rain summer it seems, has decided to show its face. Harvesting winter crops and putting in the summer ones. good rainfall mixed with lots of warm days, garden loves this!   Nothing however, says summer is here quite a boldly as the first Red-Bellied Black snake of the season! This poor fella was nearly whipper-snipped! Fly on the wall would have observed the four of us bending over " oh cool isn't it purty!' then the snake turned and headed towards us and same fly would have seen the four of us screaming and backing away(by which I mean sprinting) quickly.

We don't seem to have many photos of this day. Most of the sad goodbyes out of the way the evening before over beers in Butch and Babes backyard. Those goodbyes are hard work.  Denver turned on another perfect summer evening; the sky was the same shade of blue and orange as the Broncos' guernseys. 4 a.m. wake-up call for the trip to D.I.A. for the flight back to L.A. Long wait to get through security; empty pockets, shoes off (the girls of course are wearing ankle high double laced converse), unpack computer bags, re-pack-and-shoe, and on to Dr Who-esque shuttle train to departure gates, seemingly miles away. Saw the Grand Canyon again from the plane. 3 hours later we are in L.A. with a 12 hour wait for our flight home. What to do in this situation? Get a hotel room for $50, leave the luggage there and jump on the Metro (city train network) and head for those Hollywood hills. (even Hooterville rutabagas grow at this altitude) This day was spent  visiting the home of the Denver Broncos- Inveso Field At Mile High! It was an incredible tour. Really amazing, as we don't normally think whilst watching a good game what is happening behind the scenes. 37-40 kegs of beer are wasted clearing the lines after one game....... The grass is half synthetic half real, but so nice! The time I spent (before visiting Invesco) thinking that oh yeah, whatever, it's not "Mile High" was quickly erased by the fact that -This is an awesome place for a great team and what could possibly be the most loyal fan base in the world! The Cabin   This day's adventure was a trip to "The Cabin", one of my favourite places to be and of some family historical significance. Stopped at  Apex , an old mining town on the way up the hill. (it is believed these miners survived on a diet consisting mainly of Hooterville Rutabagas ) Still looking good! I have decided to put in a couple of thens and nows. The swing circa 1970ish: Pat, Barb, Michelle, Kristine (Me), Danny The swing now! Barb Boris Jax Kaiya Tory Michelle including of course a re-enactment (somewhat accurate), of the Great Swing Incident, of 19?? ! Is that a tree??? No somebody stop me! Slam!!! and Out!! After a brief respite and shower after camping, it was off to the Schrader Estate for a BBQ to eat, drink, and reminisce with various and sundry Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins, not seen for many a long year. Nothing starts the preparation of a good feed like Karl rubbing the meat.  Green chile of varying degrees of heat, Margaritas all round......                  aahhh!!! 14 hours on the smoker (correct me if I'm wrong here Karly G), Then a good shredding by Mad woman B and help from Donger Relaxing in style after  a hard day over a hot stove: The Boys ready for a good night and the people: Mom and her brother My Uncle Jimmy e: Greg thinking he could take Jimmy on: and then on to someone more his pace:  he still lost... Mom and Dennis Dad and Sue Catching up HAAH! Great night, not as many pics as would have liked but they are in our minds.
