Big Thirsty Aussies

Wow, now I am acting like you lot and not posting on my blog! Seriously though, we are moved in and back on line (sort of-dial up). If there are no photos here it is because it just took way to long. This place is good, on the water, lots of space and a whole lot of skeeters too! Apparently those before fed the birds so seems to be a few of those hanging out for a feed as well. Well, after a brilliant sunrise we headed off to try and track down the ever elusive whales yet one more time. Armed with new intelligence of time and location we arrived at the ruined lighthouse in the national park at 8am -(yes and on a Sunday too). The first "nature moment" of the day was this Kangaroo pretending we couldn't see her. Up to the top to the old Cape St Goerge lighthouse ruins. Apparently they built it in the wrong spot and it was more of a hazard than a help, so they blew it up with a bit of dynamite and erected a new lighthouse on Point Perpendicular, which you will be able to pick out in the sunrise photo, if not sue the school system for not teaching you what perpendicular means. Second "nature moment" was when we found a couple of feral children at the top. Here is the lighthouse. It is , by the way, haunted by the ghost of a young girl who tragically lost her life while living here. I'd tell you the story, but that would ruin the book f...

Ok so here is the exciting photo of the new trailer, was the wait worth it for you as well??.... This is a rose that Sekaiya bought me from the schools mini-fete (white elephant type thing) a few years ago. At the time it resembled (quite closely too I might add) a 4 inch stick in a pot. Last year saw our first flower, it was the one and only of that season. Now this year.... brilliant! Spent Saturday potting up all the flowers etc. that we need to take with us when we move. I will update the garden blog when we get a garden. For now it is life in a pot for most our plants. Chiles like pots though so that is ok! We also let young "Merle the Girl" get her first fresh air and sunshine of the season can you tell she is smiling? Today we went out to the national park to try and view some whales. No such luck, they reckon you can walk across the bay on the whales right now there are so many and yet they seem to be quite elusive when we are about! We did see another echidna and t...

Ok so nothing exciting has happened here other than getting a tow bar put on the car and ordering a trailer. stay tuned for pics of the trailer. Oh and you could have quit reading when you read the title,-It did say boring! We did get to catch a bit of nature watching in over the past week. Today was another good day at the Williams estate! Did nothing but a read on the lounge and a bush/beach walk in the netional park. Today we went to Scottish Rocks. We are hoping to hit all the little hiking trails before summer is over. We are not doing any serious gardening at present as it seems as if we will be moving soon. The vegies are fine in their pots and can wait a while befor they have to go in the ground. Still hoping to be able to walk to beach,shops , school etc...Whilst moving is a pain in the arse, change is always exciting. It has been another great weekend here. Saturday was in fact a bit cool but Sunday was brilliant. Spent the day digging over the garden bed (Boris mostly) should be able to get the seedlings in next weekend. We will have 2 beds this year-hopefully. The girls went off to Canberra for their year 5/6 excursion for 3 days this past week. They had a great time and as for what we did home alone for the first time in 12 years.... well you'll just have to wait for the book to come out! If you frequent that type of book shop. It is the preliminary final (or play-offs if you will) his weekend so I watch the footy as we speak (Rugby League for those of you in the states). Our team made the grand final in last nights game now we are watching to see who they will play.

Remember a few posts back when I mentioned the fact that all the house work I had avoided may come back to bite me! Well it has , teeth bared and snarling! Started spring cleaning this week in the girls rooms (they were away for a camp with school for 2 days). Wow.... should have sent them away for a month to go through all of that! However, all our organizational problems are sorting themselves out due to the trickle down effect of 2 new shelving units......everything is falling into place and after another 80 yrs time should be set! I would post photos but can't find the camera in the mess!!!

This was this mornings sunrise! Another wonderful spring day draws slowly to a close around us...... The weather this weekend (and most of the past week) has been sensational! Today we went to the local national park to try a walk not yet tried, out to the "Hole in the wall". The top of which has caved in so it is now really only a "Gap in the Wall". It was a great place, although in a note to ourselves we will check the tides before we do any more beach adventures.As it got a bit tricky in a couple of places but was enjoyable just the same. We then went out to Murry's Beach and Governors Head to see if we could see any whales. We did not. However, it was still a great look out and we saw this person hiding in the bush on the way up! We will call him George! George the Echidna! As this was all before 11a.m. we were also able to get some gardening in. The girls go off their big Canberra excursion tomorrow for 3 days. All very exciting here! Lots of good things f...

Well another busy one slips away from us..... We spent today at a soccer grand final (we lost 1-0 but was a great game) then off to "The Gong" for a school spectacular dance music thingo that Tory was in. She's the one in the pink! As photographed from our nosebleed seats. Was a great production but 3 hours long! As Tomorrow is Father's Day here in the land of Oz I will wish any of you that are a good one! We had a great night over at the beach watching the lunar eclipse on Tuesday as well. Sadly no good photos but it truly did turn red. So in lieu of moon photos there is one of the kiddies getting cross because I kept putting the flash in their eyes. oh yes and the sand balls!

Ok so maybe it hasn't been that long(not as far between as some of you post-I wont mention any names but ALL OF YOU!). Life here seems to be simultaneously busy and boring! I guess we are busy doing boring stuff that has to be done! On Sunday it was 12 years since our darling Toryanna poked her brainy little head into the world. And most days I don't even want to put her back! Her soccer team has gone through another level to the "Grand Final" or superbowl if you will, so it will be pretty exciting. Both girls shone in the Uni exams again this year we walked away with a few distinctions! Sekaiyas netball team lost by one point unfortunately but it was a great game (she scored most the goals), there, is that enough parental boasting for one day! Looking forward to getting the garden going again( I guess I will have to update that blog as well). The bulbs are coming up, however the ones that fell victim to the game of "chasers, catchers and something else" ...

Howdy all, another uneventful week at our homestead. Soccer game won, Netball game won, both girls won their age group for high jump at the school. Above is the last sunny Sunday arvo paper/beer spot in the garden. We managed to get our Sunday walk in... we went to Plantation Point this time as we are trying to see more than just our beach(not that we don't love it but variety and all that) I have successfully avoided major house cleaning.... again woo hoo! I guess this is going to come back and haunt me soon enough!
