Sunday arvo again already!!?????!!!
Well, after a brilliant sunrise we headed off to try and track down the ever elusive whales yet one more time. Armed with new intelligence of time and location we arrived at the ruined lighthouse in the national park at 8am -(yes and on a Sunday too). The first "nature moment" of the day was this Kangaroo pretending we couldn't see her.
Up to the top to the old Cape St Goerge lighthouse ruins. Apparently they built it in the wrong spot and it was more of a hazard than a help, so they blew it up with a bit of dynamite and erected a new lighthouse on Point Perpendicular, which you will be able to pick out in the sunrise photo, if not sue the school system for not teaching you what perpendicular means.
Second "nature moment" was when we found a couple of feral children at the top.
Here is the lighthouse. It is , by the way, haunted by the ghost of a young girl who tragically lost her life while living here. I'd tell you the story, but that would ruin the book for you, so I won't.
Ok whales: everyone sees whales (or so we are continually told).
5 minutes-no whales.
10 minutes-no whales.
20 minutes-no whales.
Ok, that's it, they are actually fictional animals made up to enhance Jonah's saga.
Then....
just as we were going to pack it in....
there in the distance we saw a fountain of water spouting forth from the sea! Yea! a whale!!!!!
but wait, there's more....not just any whale, a mother and her calf, and the little tyke was playing and leaping out of the water having a jolly good frolic!
Now this was very hard to photograph from our vantage point so here is a shot of the "splash" and a sort of blurry whale shot:
Well, feeling quite pleased with ourselves and the morning thus far we decided to check out another place we have been meaning to visit in the national park as well (it was still only 9:30 am you know!). So off too Stoney Creek we went. It was a great place and a potential pearler of a spot for snorkeling if the fat man in the red clothing can get that snorkeling gear happening(I think he may).
So as I sit here with my Sunday arvo beer, I can't help but stop and think that-ok- there have been some "stress moments" in life but 99.99% of the time:
IT'S ALL GOOD!!!!
