In the absence of a natural disaster......

.......we went with good old fashioned car trouble.

This past weekend saw us at Kylie and Pete's home for the celebration of his  Semicentennial or  Quinquagenary as it is more commonly known. it was a great time and pictures follow:

Friday dinner at the Workers followed by an enjoyable evening (most of which I can clearly recollect).
Saturday mid-morning saw us heading out for a pub/club crawl.
Those more adventerous souls chose to cross on the derelict bridge whose history (some thing about playing chicken with a train, blow-up dolls...) will not appear on these pages.
Then we headed up the track to our first destination....

The RMYC:
followed up by the Toronto Pub:

Then onto the Toronto Workers Club:

A sign of age perhaps when a pub crawl consists of 3 places wherein we had 1 beer each. Also put a real quick 10 through the pokies.... real quick.

This a  big Jockey Jersey from an old Melbourne Cup. This horse (Kapstaad Way) was scratched so the Jerse never made the trip south. (Pete's work made these for all horses one year).
It proved to be  hours of entertainment for kiddies and teens alike:

Couisins!!!:

The speech:

                                      Ellie and Julie:

turns in the hammock:

a bit of a paddle:

and then Charon saw the ferry back safe to the other side:

as the day progressed into evening the fire was lit and the good times rolled:

No photos of the "pile-on" here as I missed it due to sleep. Photos may be forethcoming if they are available.

Then Sunday morning.... bacon and eggs and general socialisation...

This then brings me to the title of todays blog (see above).
Here is a picture of us 30 min down the road towards home.

yes, a broken heater tap, leaking coolant all over the place, no one open on a Sunday is there?
Once again had to ring work on a Monday morning after a 50th celebration to tell them I wouldn't be in.
I see a pattern here.

Anyway back home this weekend and into life in general.
here are some pictures from our weekend.

Dwight and Merle:

Here is the dead frog from the yard, note the leech on railing. This was on him and must be responsible for his dried up state.

And now until next time.... have a good one!
