Big Thirsty Aussies

Leaving Mesa Verde we headed to Alamosa Colorado, home of the Holmans : Michelle, Donny, Erin (who now comes with a Keldon) Mason and last but certainly not least Clayton. For those of you who do not know, this is my sister and her family. We stayed here at the Alamosa Hilton. This is and always has been one of my favourite places to be! Here is the view from the front; Boris out the back minding Donkey while Erin works. If not watched carefully this beast will get into the Hooterville Rutabaga crop. The girls stayed in the "Hunters Suite"; Went for a Visit to Erin and Keldon's place, here is the view they get  360 deg. Rowdy True  Country! Then Back to enjoy the beer garden: Kris, Michelle, Scott, Erin, Kaiya, Tory Alamosa is Dodge Country; and the rest with the John Deer Green Truck! Big long drive the next day, but at least it was through some of the best countryside ever. Made our way through Monument Valley and onto Mesa Verde. Quick look at Mexican Hat rock along the way. Monument Valley Mexican Hat Then onto Mesa Verde, although we had to sit through a lot of construction on the way into park it was fantastic. Please note the sign in the lower right hand side of door. Mesa Verde This is the valley in which the ruins are located. This was  Kiva used for ceremonial purposes, it would have been covered over at the time. a staple food of these natives were the humble Hooterville Rutabaga

The road heading into the Grand Canyon is quite spectacular in its own right. This is representative of  about 50% of  vehicles on roadway, big trucks, everywhere. Nothing I can say about this will do it justice- the pics don't really even do that. Put it on your must see list!

  And just when you think you are only going to Nevada....or-(around the world in 6 blocks) We ended up visiting  Arthurian Britain  (where we stayed in the Excalibur- same place we stayed for our nuptiuals). ( this is shortly before Kayia was asked to model for a gal selling dresses)   Then on to Egypt   Then New York and Paris.... We rounded out our 6 block world tour in Ancient Rome! You can not capture the essence of  "The Strip" at night unless you are there. Wedding parties wandering everywhere, cartoon characters and Elvis vying for your attention, families, friends,drunken yobbos, more taxis than any airport I have ever seen, limos(of the stretch Hummer variety as well) you name it they got it! Then you have to run the gauntlet of individuals trying to give you cards and brochures to have women: "direct to your room in 20 minutes!" Had the best Mexican food ever at this little place.
