Monument Valley and Mesa Verde

Big long drive the next day, but at least it was through some of the best countryside ever. Made our way through Monument Valley and onto Mesa Verde. Quick look at Mexican Hat rock along the way.

Then onto Mesa Verde, although we had to sit through a lot of construction on the way into park it was fantastic. Please note the sign in the lower right hand side of door.

This is the valley in which the ruins are located.



This was  Kiva used for ceremonial purposes, it would have been covered over at the time.


a staple food of these natives were the humble Hooterville Rutabaga
