Our July Adventure
NOOOOO!!!!!
Sunday afternoon at the end of holidays.
NOOOOO!!!!!
Back to the grindstone tomorrow.
NOOOOO!!!!!

Well we had a great little getaway from the day to day of our life.
Sorry if the map is hard to read it is just an indicator of sorts. We do a highlighted map every time we stray from our home on a grand tour.
Started on the 11th and camped two nights at Abercrombie Caves. The caves were really interesting and apparently an old bushranger gang "The Ribbon Gang" used to hide out there from the law, way back when.
Although we were cold and moderately damp, it was still a great campsite with wombats nosing about after hours. Can't really get a good shot of a wombat as they are very shy. Here are some shots of this great place:
On The Way:
The Camp:
The Bridge of Doom(or more affectionately known as the "I have nothing to prove by going on a swayin bridge with rotton wood and lots of rust" bridge)Kids liked it though:
On the walk to caves:
The stairs down to the caves from one end:
In the caves(and I didn't freak out too bad when we had to bend way down and go sort of sideways to get through:
Dancing on a platform that miners used to dance on in the 1800's:
And out the other end:
From here we moved on (July 13) to Hill End Via the Mt Panorama race track where we took the obligatory lap:
Hill End was fantastic and very very cold. It is an old mining town, but alas they left no gold behind. We did however grab a few rocks just in case.
After 2 nights here we were off to the Warrambungles. Although we have camped here before, it is to good to not revisit. We had a resident kangaroo (or 2)who we called Harvey. Harv's biggest problem is that he was a heat hog. He kept sitting in between girls and the fire. When we tried to move him he was quite growly (yes even we didn't know that these things growled) so he had to be sent on his merry way.
Had a 9kilometre walk/hike to a look out and although it was rainy the whole way it was still good. Emus also abounded here and there were many more than our last visit.
Here are our pics from here :

(note that as we were packing up to go and stopped for some happy snaps after our last night in a tent in the great outdoors-the rain stopped and the sun shone):

After our 2 nights here we were off to Tamworth- Country Music Capitol of Australia. It was a real interesting place and the hot shower and real bed was also good. We finally got to see the Golden Guitar, and Boris and girls got a pic with Chad Morgan.

From here we moved on to Coff's for the annual winter carnival with family and a good time was had by all, but that will have to wait for another day.
