Sunburnt Country Indeed!

What has been happening here.... well lets see.... rain. Oh yes, and cold.
We enjoyed a good (but cold) visit to Aunty Jo's place: fire, footy and f(ph)ase 10. Oh... and 2 kilos of jelly beans and liquorice all-sorts. Oh and cheese and crackers, and chips, and cabanosi and....


On the home front, lots and lots of rain.








The muddy creek however, does make the pelicans look brighter:

and we will leave you here with young master Dwight awake again as the house is too warm to hibernate-gotta keep the fire going.... (Michelle and  Barb- I intentionally did not say burning so there is no need to sing here).

Sunday arvo again already!!?????!!!

Well, after a brilliant sunrise we headed off to try and track down the ever elusive whales yet one more time. Armed with new intelligence of time and location we arrived at the ruined lighthouse in the national park at 8am -(yes and on a Sunday too). The first "nature moment" of the day was this Kangaroo pretending we couldn't see her. Up to the top to the old Cape St Goerge lighthouse ruins. Apparently they built it in the wrong spot and it was more of a hazard than a help, so they blew it up with a bit of dynamite and erected a new lighthouse on Point Perpendicular, which you will be able to pick out in the sunrise photo, if not sue the school system for not teaching you what perpendicular means. Second "nature moment" was when we found a couple of feral children at the top. Here is the lighthouse. It is , by the way, haunted by the ghost of a young girl who tragically lost her life while living here. I'd tell you the story, but that would ruin the book f...

We pick up in the life of our hero where we last left him. The mother Gaforady dragon is poised to dive and tear the unconscious Logorian into food for her new hatchling (the last of this regal line). Can the young prince wake and save himself? He is the last hope for the kingdom of Coochlia, and all hope lies upon him to befriend the remaining dragons as much needed allies in the war against the Trougopians. Suddenly up over the edge of the nest rises the red head of.... OOPS sorry bout that wrong story. Right now where were we... ah yes July, and the winter school break.  All has been good here except the wind, and it has not been good. Indeed it has been the polar opposite of good. Fortunately we only lost power once for 3-4 hours, there are some now going on their fourth day in the dark.  Parts of our lovely Shoalhaven were actually declared a National Disaster Area (that makes 2 we have been in during the past month- see previous post). Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale, a tale of a fateful trip.... Our  adventure as part of the "Mooral Creek 9" Ok let's go camping at Mooral Creek for Fish's 50th  sounds good, may rain (always does when we camp) no big deal. Early departure from home Sat a.m. drop girls at Pete and Kylies place in Newcastle, take Pete with us and head for the countryside outside Wingham.  Tent erected and ready to go (other than being wet from the rain pouring in as we set up). and the day progressed (or perhaps digressed): the chair was just not made to hold 3 people!
