Howdy
A bit behind here, this is our July holiday.
Our first stop was a night in Blackalls Park where we acquired an extra teenage girl, then off up the coast to Smokey Cape near Hat Head where we had a dry (yes you read that right)* camping adventure-cold- but dry. Not entirely sure how we survived camping in the past without 4 laptops, 3 ipods and 2 smart phones.
The Smokey Cape Lighthouse was fantastic (we may have seen some whales but the water was a bit choppy to be certain). There was some huge surf on the beach and the full moon on the water was beautiful. My amateur photography doesn't really do it justice.

Kookaburras in the old gum tree.
Packed up and headed out to Bonville, stopping to shower and visit the Trial Bay Gaol on the way. Clouds forming ominously above.
Quick as we ran they managed to escape and catch up!
Quick lunch stop at South West Rocks. This is the shed (or was) that Boris spent many a day eating hot chips under in his younger days.
Ahh... The back veranda at Bonville, trumpet vine ablaze.
All gathered for Colin's 80th a good time was had by all.
The Cousins sans Rhyse. (We did leave a spot for you though, send a pic and we'll shop you in).
Then on to the Warrumbungles near Coonabarabran. Had to put that in as I like the name Coonabarabran, yup one of my favourite words is Coonabarabran.
Here it was not so dry. We had to set up 3 tents, 2 shelters in the pouring rain in the dark. now it was more our type of camping trip.
soooo coooold!!!
The next day however the sun came out and it was a great time.
Kaiya found some farmers friends.
Great stepping stones, forever more to be referred to as "trough lollies", as we came across a young family on our hike with a couple of small boys, who excitedly told us all about the trough lollies. Although it did take us females a moment or two to work it out Boris and Pete knew straight away.
Emus at the camp
Lily fully enjoying the roasting of the Marshmallows, in what can only be described as a proper roasting outfit.
Boxing Kangaroos
Leaving you now with a not so short video of the roos.
*by dry I mean the weather of course not the content of the esky
