It's like having David Attenborough in your backyard!

This Noisy Minah is vigorously attacking last years nest ( that had blown out of tree where it was last year) in search of prime building materials ( including fishing line) with which she is constructing this years hatchery. Thank christ it's in the house next door this time as they don't come by the name "Noisy Minah" lightly.  Our old friend "Butch" a Crimson Rosella is still with us even he is looking a bit ragged around the edges. Wesley, a fine example of a  male King Parrot has finally lowered himself to taking food from our hands.   Timmy.... Timmy, Timmy, Timmy, what to say about Timmy. 2 years ago a little baby Tim had an injured foot and could not keep up with its family. As it was the Christmas season and it  was crippled the name Tim seemed appropriate. We set up a safe place  with water and food both on and under our veranda. Suffice to say she has thrived and flys and now comes with a boyfriend Tammy. He is thus named...

Farewell Winter.....

Spring is in the air..... Ok so there is still a week yet to go , however this was our last weekend of winter and what a great one it has been (minus the flu and feeling like crap). I will take the glass being half... nay... three quarters of the way full as even though I was feeling physically sub par, the mental weekend has been brilliant. Friday Tory turned sweet sixteen: We had our last fire of the "legal" burning off period. A Sunday  on the creek in the afternnon sun is always a good thing. The low tide revealed a new crop of oysters - Karl you have to come help me eat these no one here will- just a good day on the creek: and as if that wasn't enough, the Sea Eagles, the Wallabys and the Seahorses all won their games go teams... lets hope the Dragons can round off the weekend with a victory as well (although I do not hold my breath). In the absence of a natural disaster......

.......we went with good old fashioned car trouble. This past weekend saw us at Kylie and Pete's home for the celebration of his  Semicentennial or  Quinquagenary as it is more commonly known. it was a great time and pictures follow: Friday dinner at the Workers followed by an enjoyable evening (most of which I can clearly recollect). Saturday mid-morning saw us heading out for a pub/club crawl. Those more adventerous souls chose to cross on the derelict bridge whose history (some thing about playing chicken with a train, blow-up dolls...) will not appear on these pages. Then we headed up the track to our first destination.... The RMYC: followed up by the Toronto Pub: Then onto the Toronto Workers Club: A sign of age perhaps when a pub crawl consists of 3 places wherein we had 1 beer each. Also put a real quick 10 through the pokies.... real quick. This a  big Jockey Jersey from an old Melbourne Cup. This horse (Kapstaad Way) was ...

Sunburnt Country Indeed!

What has been happening here.... well lets see.... rain. Oh yes, and cold. We enjoyed a good (but cold) visit to Aunty Jo's place: fire, footy and f(ph)ase 10. Oh... and 2 kilos of jelly beans and liquorice all-sorts. Oh and cheese and crackers, and chips, and cabanosi and.... On the home front, lots and lots of rain. The muddy creek however, does make the pelicans look brighter:   Here are some shots of the surf in the bay (keeping in mind it is usually quite flat): and we will leave you here with young master Dwight awake again as the house is too warm to hibernate-gotta keep the fire going.... (Michelle and  Barb- I intentionally did not say burning so there is no need to sing here).
